intake manifold suggestions

so the route of alot of my car running crappy is from a bad vaccum leak due to a warped lower intake, now i have a "Spare" cobra lower but i was wondering what would you guys suggest for another upper and lower intake for my application i found a BBK SSI for 300 bucks now i know thats mostly for high horsepower cars with the runners and such but i also know that intake is way more that 300 dollars.... so any suggestions?

i heard the hollys are a nasty intake . what rpm,s are ya usin mostly that is where ya should be lookin is it a low end motor mid range ,or top end .

im not really sure which rpm range im looking to improve on the car pretty much pulls hard high and low, but if i am takin off the intake I Want something better have you heard anything good about the BBK SSI

I'm curious myself as to why everyone prefers the Cobra intake vs. the stock 5.0 intake for the GT's. I also heard the intakes from vehicles like the 5.0 equipped Explorers and Mountaineers are also in high demand for the Fox 5.0's.
I will be upgrading my intake in the near future as well and had pretty much just decided to go with the Cobra intake upgrade.

...Just look for a used GT40 or Cobra intake! ...Holley's good for a hi-end boost application...

The intakes from the 5.0 explorers were better than the mustang ones and they can be found on the cheap and are just about the same as the cobra intake ones. IIRC, some 5.0 explorers had the gt 40 tubular intake manifold, and some had the intake that is just about the same as the cobra intake manifold.

The gt40 is pretty close to the ssi in performance, but the ssi pulls better in the higher rpms. I think I would go with the RPM II, systemax, or the trick flow. But you might not feel much improvement in power with these unless you have a good set of heads and cam. Just my two cents.

i wouldnt base my decision on magazines eric... magazines are biased.. want real life info look at track times with similar set ups or some comparisons done be some people. there are a few out there search it on corral hardcore50.com sbftech.com

I've gotten good results from the systemax. But it is a PITA to install the upper to lower . . .defintely wasn't designed for assembly. The edelbrock looks a little better and I heard its similar in performance. I do miss the cobra intake, decent results and a piece of cake to get on and off

The middle bolt on the passenger side is a bitch to get to. Forget about torqueing it to anything as well as the front driver side which is a nut on a stud. In contrast, the cobra intake had all bolts easily accessible, get a torque wrench on all with ease.

I have heard this before about the magazines. I don't want to start a dispute over this, but how can they fake the dyno sheets? I do see them favor different companies quite a bit though. A little info on this would be nice. Thanks. :)
