Simple logic and business ethics draws me to the conclusion. the intakes are all different correct? thus require different combination of parts to be optimal. As you said you see they favor different companies quite a bit. They are running a business they will go towards the money....As we all know all parts must work together to create good power, slapping anything we can get for cheap might work but wont be best. In my eyes why bother doing it that way...you should just save up for the good stuff.

Many people feel this way and have also proven some test wrong due to the mix matched parts that are optimal for one set up and not for both. Read up on corral, hardcore50 and sbftech.

Who cares what it looks like, the objective of changing an intake manifold or rather making modifications to your engine is for performance. Buy what performs instead of 'looks cool".

however this is just my subjective reasoning.

Ok, I get what you're saying. I never really thought about the mismatched parts, like a trick flow intake is matched with the tfs heads, but edelbrock probably isn't matched to the tfs heads. You want the complete setup, so everything is matched and runs in harmony, lol. Thanks for the clarification. :awesomework:

there are the keywords.
and i wouldnt buy any of the premade kits either. they dont perform that well.

there's nothing complicated about buying stuff that works in harmony. :smash:

perfection is that little bit of effort that brings you from a 12 sec h/c/i fox to a deep 11 sec possibly 10sec h/c/i fox. people that give that extra effort are those that break records or are in the elite class where you doing a lot with a little that the majority cant do.

sometimes it takes years... i know of a few guys that did small changes over a course of 5 years to work their way from mid 11s to mid 10.70s, the end result is worth it to me.

"purestock" the 10.5x n/a h/c/i hatch (the fastest n/a stock shortblock) has took time to change cams a few times and springs three times. not to count the countless hours of adjusting the car.

you dont have to spend top dollar for stuff and i told you what to do to get the most out of your car.

get what intake you want. then the most important thing is get a custom cam and whatever springs the custom cam guy suggests. the only new shit u need to buy is the cam. which will be worth the 325 dollar price tag.

What heads are you running? Is it going to be NA or SC'ed? Too many variables to make a suggestion. I had a Systemax II and it's a sweet intake but I now have a Cobra on my latest combo. If you are going all out NA or going to run a nasty SC'ed built motor get a Systemax/RPM 2, if not keep what you have and get the lower ported, and get a custom cam instead of a new intake. A custom grind cam is a WAY better power maker than changing your intake will be. Check out some of the combos on Corral.net to see what people are making with different stuff.

Well if you are keeping the GT40X I would just get the lower intake ported and stick with a Cobra/GT40 upper if it was me. I know with boost it won't be a problem as there are alot of guys that have ran 500+rwhp with Cobra/GT40 intakes.

Hell, a guy in the Corral with a SC-Trim Vortech (smallest one) ran in the low 10's with GT40Y heads with are the 1st aluminum ones made and nowhere near as good as the GT40X. OHH..and with the stock cam.....;)

+100 on corral.net. I just joined this morning and have read quite a bit over there on some GT40 combos (I know they aren't the same as the Y and X heads) and they ran some pretty good times in the quarter. I was impressed! They seem to really know their stuff over there!! :awesomework:
