Well my son Henri got the day off Tuesday and came down to help me install the Boost Brothers intercooler. We had a plan and mapped out how we were going to route the piping. We headed up to Advanced Auto for a K&N cone air cleaner and some connectors. While there we also found a flex pipe piece that ended up saving us a lot of time and PCV pipe that we were going to cut to route to the MAF .
Then it was off to Loews for Heavy gage steel "L" brackets and straight ones as well.We then bought miscellanious bolts, screws, washers to hook every thing together. From hardware it was off to plumbing for some pressurized PCV and a 90 degree rubber bend. As is we only used 5 inches of the PCV. We also bought a 3 1/4 in. drill saw to cut an opening for the flex pipe to pass through the fender apron.
We got home and proceeded to remove the original air cleaner and the radiator. Then off with the bumper cover and the bumper. This gave us all the room we needed to figure out where to place the intercooler and the brackets to hold it in place. Henri cut one of the heavy guage staright straps in half. These two pieces were more than strong enough to rest the intercooler on , we drilled 2 holes into the bottom of the frame that holds the radiator on and bolted it up with the screws and washes , including rubber piece in the middle to absorb vibrations.
Next Henri cut the L brackets and attached them at the top while I cut the PCV pipe to attach the air cleaner. Using the PCV and a connector we bought we extended over to a dead air space in from of the left(driver side) wheel. With the rubber 90degree bend and the K&N filter on the end it fit perfectly into the space.
While I was doing that Henri finished up the attachment of the brackets and then got out the hole saw to cut and a hole in the apron just in front of the MAF sensor. With that done we attached the flex tube to the intercooler and around the frame, into the space in the fender and up through the hole in the apron. after that it was just a matter of attaching the tubing to the senor opening and reattaching the sensor brackets to to the apron.
After that it was just reinstalling the radiator, the bumper and the bumper cover. Everything is completely hidden in the bumper cover and all of the intercooler you can see is in the bottom opening. When you look under the hood all that is missing is the old air cleaner Its incredible and runs great . We ran the car a bit to let it idle and the computer to get readjusted to the air flow. The idle was a little low but i'll wait before I adjust it. The car runs great and literally jumps to 5000 rpms. So here's the pictures of what it looked like. i also cleaned and painted the frame while we had the radiator off.
