Today I finished removing the nose (except for the hood) off the Coupe so I could start replacing the front inner fender panels & the radiator support.
Nothing really picture worthy. Sanded off the old paint on the radiator support & the r/s inner fender panel looking for spot welds & started drilling them. Fun stuff.
Finished drilling out the spot welds & removed the r/s front inner fender panel. Where the panel meets the radiator support it was only welded half way. What's up with that. I guess that is what happens with a car that was built on a Friday.
Now that I have the r/s front inner fender panel out there is more rot there on the front upper shock tower flange. I already cut a piece of metal to make a patch for that area.
Yesterday I did some finish grinding to the r/s shock tower upper rear flange to prep the area where I cut out the rotted metal. Cut my patches & fitted them. Today I will weld them in.
Welded in the patch to the r/s shock tower upper rear flange.
Welded in the patch to the r/s rear inner fender panel upper flange where it overlaps the r/s shock tower upper flange. I also drilled the holes in the battery inner fender panel to prep it to be welded in this week.
Nothing picture worthy, I put a few sheet metal screws in the new inner fender (battery) panel to hold it in place so I could remove the clamps so I test fit the fender alignment before welding it in.
