Where you in heavy stop & go traffic or stopped @ a light? Sounds like it shut off on high press safetuy/cut out then it resets when it cools down. Could even be non-condesables in system (air).

Dumb question???, have u checked thermistat or removed it to see if motor stays cool with no restrictions????
