I need help with my 65 coupe

Since I bought my 65 completely in pieces, some new parts, some old parts and lots of missing parts, I need help putting it back together. What I'm asking is if anyone within a reasonable distance form the Binghamton area who owns a 64 1/2, 65 or 66 would allow me to check it out up close. I...

    paint

I asked my regular mechanic who he'd recommend, so I went to him. He was too busy but recommended another guy. So I went to him and he was too busy but recommended another guy. That guy was just finishing up a job and has my 65 in there now. I also ran into a retired used car dealer who praised...

    paint

I've been trying to find a body shop to paint my 65 coupe in the Binghamton area. Some of the local shops are still recovering from the flooding last year and others don't even answer their phones. I want a decent job, not a show car. I want it to be driven and don't want to be afraid of...

    65 mustang for sale

I didn't know where to post this because it's not my car for sale. I spotted it while driving today. It's in Binghamton NY. 65 Mustang coupe. 6cyl auto. The body looks real good and is primered grey. It has a hood scoop. From what I could see the underside looked good and the interior was very...

    title

You are correct. The first registration said nontransferrable and the new registration does say transferrable. I spent most of my life in PA so the NY system is still a little strange. The local DMV did tell me they were sending in my paperwork to get a title and the Albany DMV did send me a...

    title

Well I received mail from the NY DMV and opened it up, hoping to see my title ..... no luck .... they sent me another registration. Now I have two registrations and no title. This means another trek to the local DMV. At least these county-run DMVs are friendly, not like the old state-run Gestapos.

    65 coil spring covers

Thanks. I'll be putting them on. It's not going to be a show car, but might as well be as complete as I can get it.

    title

Check the DMV regulations. Once a car is junked, it's almost impossible to get that car (VIN) back on the road. It's the owners responsibility to prove it's roadworthy. The very thorough inspection would probably unearth the deception. There are a couple VIN stampings at least on older cars.

    title

I had a similar problem registering my 65. It came from Rhode Island where apparently they don't issue titles for older vehicles. The owner had to get a notorized paper from the DMV describing the vehicle, VIN etc and the owners info. Then the owner had to supply a notorized bill of sale with...

    65 coil spring covers

It does have a rubber bumper. I was curious because my old 66 didn't have these and I never had any trouble. I will be installing them.

    65 coil spring covers

Among the parts I received with the 65 I'm restoring are two coil spring covers. Back in 1971, when I was installing grease fittings in my 66 GT, I'm positive there weren't any spring covers. They must have been removed by the previous owner or a mechanic sometime. Mine need cleaning up and...

    building a 65

Thanks for the encouragement. I do know Gary's but it doesn't hold a candle to DeNaples in Dunmore PA back in the 60's and 70's. I grew up in Scranton, just a short distance from it and there wasn't a part you couldn't get cheap. Someone backed into my 66 Mustang and bent my headlight rim. So I...

    building a 65

Hi, I had a 66 GT 4-spd A code coupe back in 1971. I paid $800, "as is", for it at a Ford dealer. It needed brakes, clutch and engine rebuild. Back then I did it all for a few hundred bucks. Wish I could have kept it over the years. Now close to retirement I bought a 65 from a Ford mechanic who...
