  • I have a 2004 GT premium Mustang Convertible w 50,100....My car stalls ONLY when the A/C is on, I took it to ford and they told me I have a bad idle control module so I had them replace it, driving home from ford, my car stalled at a red light A/C was on and now my check engine light is on. Ford Told me I needed a throttle body flush, so I had Firestone do that for me. Driving home again My car stalls with the A/C on and check engine light came back on. So I took it back to Firestone and then they told me the codes on the check engine light were telling them that my Mass air flow sensor was bad, So I had them replace that! The next day A/C is on and my car stalls again and check engine light is back on...I have taken it back to ford and now that are telling me I have one bad spark plug, now those have been replaced, and TODAY i got a call saying I have a cracked head gasket....why would my car only stall when the A/C is on if its my head gasket? ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP ME A LOT!! thanks!!

I don't know why they replaced plugs. A head gasket is a pretty noticeable problem. What is the code that is in the car now you need for them to tell you what the code says right now. This will answer all your questions
What is the code number when they are diagnosing the engine light? If there's a engine light on they should have diagnosed that. Let me know the code you have!

Does the car stall when the compressor for the AC Engages? or Disengages?

I'd be pissed if Ford couldn't find the Problem ! Not sure were you are but maybe Dan from ReelSpeed in LI could help you. He has a space on this forum. Good Luck.

RE: WOW San Diego... I would recommend looking for a local speedshop in CA that supports the hobby/mustangs. The right shop will have plenty of representation in mustang forums. This one is very NYcentric. I could recommend many local shops. There are some honest reviews on the web you need to find one on a Cali site. I would think it's the IAC. And replace that. The diagnostic codes the ECM generates will not always be 3 at a time sadly, it may take one part being replaced to reveal an issue with another. Good news, at this point a spark replacement is not the end of the world. It is a cheap route to go. I would check your serpentine belt and tensioner for proper belt setup. Hopefully your issue isn't connected to the transmission.

Take advantage of enthusiast shops - in SD I am betting there are plenty. The benefit of owning a stang is that there are a ton of aftermarket shops out there, Toyotas, Hondas or other makes really don't have that!!!!
