custom parts and can barely brake 13s? Those are some seriously crappy parts. Bolt ons with a mild cam should be in the 13s without even touching the heads. Most custom setups should get you well into the 11s, with some being in the 10s
Why is getting a custom setup not for the inexperienced? All you do is send a builder a list of what you want your car to do(DD, full on race car, weekend warrior, etc.), he sends you a part list with price, you pay him, you get the parts.. they get installed. Simple as that. This is going under the simple assumption that you actually talk to a reputable builder such as ed curtis.
i guess i didn't think about talking to a builder. i was just assuming that he was doing everything himself at home, armed with whatever knowledge he may have. yeah, talking to a good engine builder would be the way to go.

and believe me, i have never once under estimated a push rod engine. the only reason i have a mod motor is because it's in a car that has a body style i like!
