What exhaust deals can I get?

Hey everyone, just bought my first 'stang last week and I am looking to begin the modification process! Since this car is one of the fastest things that I have yet to get behind the wheel of, I think I can hold off on some of the 'go-fast' bits for now... what I really have my eye on is a nice exhaust system. I have been looking pretty heavily at the Borla S-type stinger system because I absolutely love the sound and no drone, but I understand that being a member of this club can get you discounts on parts from different places...... so my question is what exhaust systems (and from where) can I get any sort of discount on? No drone is a requirement as well, although being loud on the outside is not an issue also I am prefering a catback system as well just because I am planning on doing some more serious performance mods later on....

First, welcome and congrats on your first Mustang.

I know there is an American Muscle discount available. Not sure about others. When there are sales (many had Memorial Day sales that were very good) you can tack on the discount to them. July 4th is usually a big sale weekend, too.

There are tons of exhausts out there. If you have a 13-14 I would recommend the Corsa Quad tip exhaust from Hypermotive as it looks amazing and it sounds pretty good.

If you can find a set of the Boss 302 side pipes that is your best bet as that pumps the exhaust sound right into the cabin with no fumes or anything. I had the Kooks side pipes, JPC Racing Over Axle Pipes and Ford Racing SVT Sport mufflers and it sounds unfreaking believable and no drone what so ever.

Thanks! I have a 2011 GT and sadly I can't find any quad tip exhausts for the 2010-2012 generation... I just went over to American Muscle to see what kind of discount I could get and it was not quite clear to me how I would input that I was a member of this site. Can someone explain how this system works?

Sadly, if you're looking for quality, you're going to have to pay. I personally run Corsa on my 2012. I would buy them again over and over. Absolutely love them. I know Corsa has a rebate out right now, and like Scott said, just wait for a sitewide sale from one of the big 4 sites (AmericanMuscle.com, LethalPerformance.com, LMR.com, CJPonyParts.com).

As far as entering a code, just click on the coupon/promo code section to the right when you are in your cart for AmericanMuscle.com and enter the code.

And no one makes a quad tip rear valance for the 2010-2012 mustangs. I have seen a few pictures of people cutting the stock valances to make quad tips fit, but there is nothing made for it... that I know of or I would have done it.

Magnaflow makes a quad tip kit and they give you a template to cut the valance if you want to go that route.

Outside of those 4 you can check Hypermotive Performance, JPC Racing, Steeda or even Amazon has some good deals as well.

Haha yes the cams that are in there now loped pretty nicely in there haha. Before that was my favorite thing to do, just let off the gas on decel and snap crackle pop lol.

I didn't have any drone on the first setup, I don't know about the new setup as I haven't driven it yet.

As far as discounts go, decide on the sound you're looking for and then search out deals.

For me, I wanted a deeper note as alot of exhausts for the 5.0 tend to get raspy.

I went with the RTR mufflers, I think they're now called the Street spec version. When I got mine, they only had one version. Now there's also the Competition Spec which is supposed to be louder. It's made by Magnaflow, so it's of decent quality, but it wasn't cheap. $~650. You can get the tips in black or chrome. The sound is adequately loud in person up till about 3500 rpm and then it kind of tapers off and gets quiet.

As far as drone, it's tolerable...but thats to personal preference. I only experience it at about 2,000 rpm, under load, going up a hill ~70mph. At 65 and 75, it's almost gone.

From what I understand, the louder end of the spectrum would be the Roush Axle Backs.

Personally, (if possible) would go out and see some real world examples, i.e. car shows/friends because while people try to capture the sound on their camera's, the sound will only be as good as the microphone used.
