
The idea that a factory-built Ford Mustang is capable of running the quarter mile in under eight seconds seems impossible, but thanks to the speed junkies over at the Tasca Mod Shop it’s now true. Carl Tasca Sr. had come tantalizingly close to breaking the eight second barrier in his 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet back in October at New England Dragway when he ran an 8.06 second 1/4 mile run @ 170 mph, and he finally surpassed the mark during a test session this past week at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. After a near-perfect launch the Cobra Jet flew past the 1/4 mile mark in just 7.96 seconds at an incredible 172.4 mph.
Tasca Sr’s incredible run solidifies his claim to having the fastest Mustang Cobra Jet in the world as well as being the very first to break the seven second mark. Thankfully the Tasca crew had a video camera rolling for the run to provide proof as well as for our own enjoyment. Check out the video below.
