Just a few years ago building a nine second S197 Mustang was quite an achievement. It usually required a supercharger or* turbocharger running 15+ pounds of boost, and a shot of nitrous didn’t hurt either. Fast forward to today, though, and the new 5.0-liter Coyote V8 has changed everything. Not only can the 2011+ Mustang GT makes tons of power with forced induction, companies like JPC Racing of Millersville, MD has found that it can be pretty potent in naturally aspirated form as well.
Earlier we reported that JPC Racing was the first to make 500 naturally aspirated rwhp with the a 2011 Mustang. Since then they have added an additional 50 rwhp to the Mustang and made a trip out to Maryland International Raceway to see what the car could do at the drag strip. The result is the first naturally aspirated S197 Mustang to net a nine second time slip, although by the slimmest margin with an ET of 9.975 seconds at 137 mph. As proof JPC has uploaded a video of the run complete with exterior and in-car footage, which we’ve posted below as well as a breakdown of modifications done to the car.
