swap convertible top and motor from salvage car to my car?

hey guys

i'm wondering if i can take a top and motor from a salvage car and install it onto my car... same year and model (98gt). also thinking of taking the rear and interior...

but my primary concern is the top...thanks for your help

You can do whatever you want but good luck with finding a vert top in good condition from a junkyard. An engine from a junkyard is going to need some love as well. This is all considering that there isn't a Mustang that was very recently put into the junkyard.

I know there's some sites where you can enter your information and they will send a mass email out to a bunch of junkyards requesting information on a part of your choice.

it's not from a junkyard private seller seems like she was in the middle of restoring it but had a front end impact....she sold the motor and tranny (which i dont want) i think im gonna go for it...negotiate the price a bit and take what i need , part out some of it and scrap the rest hopefully make my money back ....thanks

Go there and pull it yourself and save every nut bolt washer in case you lose/break one from yours. Get a roll of cellophane wrap like movers use to wrap it up. As long as you don't remove the top from the frame and have lots of hands so nothing bends/ breaks or scratches the paint. I removed one and put it back on when I sent a Chevelle to the painter, was not that hard.
