I have a pretty stock 2002 Mustang GT but do plan to do some upgrades. What is the best gear to run Its Auto and I do play at the track every now and then, but for the most part its my daily driver. Im thinking 3.73 or 4.10 Watcha think?

4.10 unless you plan on using a blower or turbo in the near future. It will be WAY more fun at the track. You will need a tuner no matter what gears you get too. Add about 350-400 dollars on top of what you think you are going to spend. You will need your shift points changed or your going to meet your redline in very short order.

Shouldnt be noisy at all if they are installed correctly. I installed them in both my buddies 88GT, and a 99Gt, no problems whatsoever!

I have 4.10's in my car, and need to step down(running out of gear with the power im making)

Just run a taller tire with more sidewall. It will be more forgiving to the rear on your launches anyway. And I hope your not stepping down to a 3.90 from a 4.10. That is going to be a very minimal difference.

Nope im not. I am running a 28X10.5 MT Drag on it right now. Cant go any taller in size. With the auto im at 6K in 3rd gear a bit before the 1000'. Im stepping down to a 3.55 more than likely, and am going to be raising the limiter to 6700-7K when i re-tune the car.

I just picked up my new 4.10's yesterday :rock:, had my other set of 4.10's for almost 3 years in my DD stang with no probs. Ya gas mileage sucked but come on I didnt buy the stang for gas mileage...

Yeah, I think Im leaning toward the 3.73s. My buddy has a 99 GT he put a 4v motor and a pro charger in it he has 650HP to the tire and thats what he said to run being that its a auto tranny.

ya i'm ready to buy my gears and i've been stuck on the question of 3.73's and 4.10's all winter:nono:...every1 says 3.73's arnt enough and 4.10's all the way....know i'll love the pull on the 4.10's:3gears:. I'm not "complaining" about gas milage b/c obviously with a mustang thats not the deal but 30+miles to work on 65mph speed limit highway meaning i'm doin 80...idk if i can justify it. im STUCK.

The difference between cruising rpms from a 3.73 to a 4.10 is MINIMAL. If youre worried about it, like i said before, the 3.90 gearset is a great option.

For the two years I have lived in Rochester I have daily drove from Greece to Henrietta with 4.30s. Man up!
