so im trying to take the nut off the top of the strut to remove the mount and dust boot. does anyone know hot to get the nut off since it keeps spinning the strut rod?
Impact wrench while binding the rod slightly by pulling on the strut in the wheel well........or......a large "T" flathead screwdriver (sometimes a 4 way tire iron has it).....and a wrench on the nut.
Yes, top of the strut is slotted so a wrench will fit on it. See picture I took below. Holding the strut with an adjustable wrench, turning the 15/16" nut with a box end wrench.
I just jacked it up, let the wheel hang and used an impact. Once it broke lose, put a jack on the a arm and put a little pressure on it until I got the nut all the way off. An impact knocks it loose.
