Some more info and pictures would be very helpful. My advice at this point is if the car is driveable, drive it and enjoy it. It can get very expensive sending it out to shops for work. No offense but unless you have a convertible or fast back or a very desirable engine such as a 428, you'll be way upside down financially It's no fun either having your car in a pile of parts on your garage floor or someone else garage floor.
Try taking on small jobs first. You'll be amazed at what you can do if you try.
