Ten years ago I finally found a project car I wanted since I was 16 back in 1968. Back in the days when I left nose prints on dealers windows and gas was $.28 a gallon. Since that time back in '68 I had the image of what I wanted to eventually build.
I started on this car 10 years ago but set it aside due to other demands of life at the time. I am now about to get back to it.
This is a 1968 fastback; black on black; with a toploader; built 351; 3.50 rear and a number of suspension upgrades including rack and pinion.
The interesting thing about this car is, after having it for two months I discovered it's production date was in fact on my 16th birthday! How can that not be a keeper?
Body is in primer at this point and I will post some pics as time allows and as progress continues. I have been gathering parts for this project since I got it. It started life as a J-code and I have the original engine but fell into the 351 that was built by a Rausch mechanic while at a vintage racing event. It only has dyno time on it and boasts just shy of 400hp.
This will be for the most part an old school project, none of that Eleanor fad stuff.
