Need a few opinions on upgrades...

Hey guys, I got my 06 GT 5sp a few weeks ago and joined the boards, but have been mostly lurking. I have a extra $1000 and want to start doing some upgrades but not sure where i should start. My car is totally stock excepth for a K&N filter. It looks like the first place to start would be a tuner, but should I get a CAI with it also? Some places I read say the CAI is not really worth the money for what you gain over the K&N? How much would a tune help a stock car? I think I want to work on performance upgrades before doing appearance upgrades. any other suggestions? Thanks for any help, hope this is in correct section.

intake and exhuast
i would get the k&n intake
h pipe and flowmasters american thunder thats my curent set up its loud enough


or

u can hold onto that 1000 save some more and get a suprcharger

CAI is a good place to start.

you can also get some lowering spring for around 250. lowering your car is always a good place to start as well, but it all depends on what you have in terms of long term goals

Was thinking of the supercharger, my daughters friends parents ( sounds weird) just got a supercharger on there 07 rousch. Need to check that out a little more I think

need more done to the car for the charger. if its a 5 speed, it def needs a different trans before a charger, def needs lower control arms, 1 piece driveshaft, exhaust, etc

I plan on keeping long tterm and doing as much as I can to it. I had a 65 in high school, (wish I kept it), and told my wife I was getting a new one when I could. She wasn"t happy when I brought it home and probably will not be happy with mods I put on it. oh well I am getting off topic lol

yeah, pretty much. I have a company car I drive most of the time, but drive this around town, not alot of miles though.

CAI, either JLT or C&L and sct Xcal3 tuner
exhuast, don't get shitty blowmasters. jba, or magnaflow aren't to exspensive and sound great.

definitely CAI. sct x3. maybe an axleback exhaust to wake up the neighbors a little better. gears are a definite SOTP improvement. Short throw shifter is another big one. as for the roushcharger, see if they got the TVS or the M90

A CAI & Tuner combo is def a good start just like everyone else stated. Make sure that when you get your tunes you ask for them to leave the 02 sensors on, unless you wanna keep changing it back to stock before inspection, as I found out. I'd say C&L Racer, Airaid, or Steeda are your best bet, matched with either the Diablosport or Xcal 3 tuner. Then with the extra money you could maybe get some 3.73 or 4.10 gears, or maybe axlebacks if you prefer. Word of advice on exhaust though, is to listen to lots & lots of clips, and be sure to hear some setups in person, this way you don't end up buying something you don't like, because with exhaust it's all about sound preference. And everyone's ears are different. So be sure to do your homework and find the sound you want, not the sound everyone else want's you to have. Good luck, and have fun modding.
