Ok, I normally don't post a lot, but today I'm pretty excited and my wife is, well shall I say, doesn't want to hear it anymore. I've been chasing around a problem with consistency with my Mustang. 306, N/A carbureted, stock bottom end, aluminum heads. Off the trailer, my first pass in the 1/4 will be 11.89 @ 112. No matter the weather, my second pass will be 12.0 @ 111, then all over the road. 12.1s to 11.90. Basically rolling the dice. I went as far as locking the timing down and making passes at various degrees of advance, which did nothing for consistency, I did what anyone else would do and buy parts. Nothing expensive, but parts none the less. The first thing I put on is the phenolic spacer, because I think that I might be heating up the fuel. When I pull off the carb, a vacuum plug crumbles in my hand. Duh, I should have noticed that. Then I pull the plugs, forgetting that I haven't changed them since I put the fricking heads on the car 2 years ago. Then I check the float level, and notice that my secondary accelerator pump is leaking, not to mention that my float levels were way too low. :smash: well, live and learn, and I should follow my own advice and start with the simple crap first. I'm pretty sure that this will sort my issues out. If not, I'm going to put a electric fuel pump on her and get rid of the 15 year old Edlebrock mechanical pump. I can't wait until the MOMS race on Friday. I think I'm going to do a shot or five of moonshine tonight. Thanks for reading. Any more suggestions, I'll read them, but not tonight Jr. Jonsons shine is calling my name.
