hello so my father just bought a 88 gt with ttops in need of alot of tlc. today while checking the air filter I noticed the car lacks the maf sensor. Is this car speed density???? what do I need to convert it to mass air, and how much does it cost thanks?
Yes the car is speed density. A few ways on doing it. Find a doner car 89 to 93 and strip out the harness needed or you can go to http://www.mass-air.com/Products.htm and get the mass air harness
IST has convert
ed more cars to Mass-Air than anyone!! Over 20,000 harnesses and computer kits sold to date, with no end in sight!! If you want to convert a Speed Density engine to a Mass-Air engine, IST’s LOW-COST conversion harness is the answer. All harnesses designed for speed density Mustang, Thunderbird, Cougar, Mark VII, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, & Town Car. Will not work on trucks, see truck conversion kits. Why convert to Mass-Air in the first place?? Simple, on a totally stock car engine, you will generally pick up 2 - 3 MPG, along with much crisper throttle response. On modified engines, it's mandatory, since the stock Speed Density computer has a very small "window" of adjustment built in to handle those changes. Even if you have modified your stock engine and it still seems to run OK, you still are not getting the maximum benefit from all those expensive aftermarket parts you put on. Plus, you have the added benefit of cleaner emissions, since most Speed Density systems tend to run on the rich side. This true OEM-style andquality kit allows you to custom tailor the harness to the exact length you need. Plus you'll find competent, friendly, and FREE technical support is provided for all of our products. We'll work with you to try and solve any problem you may encounter!!

I did that to my old 87 lx and ran it threw 2 cars for over 6 years with no porblems just have to splice it in to the computer when the instruction says Only other thing you will need is a mass air meter So that will be an additonal price.
so all i need is Part Number CH-8611-F, for OBD-I EEC-IV connectors (4 terminal oval)……....................................$39.95 and a mass air meter and thats it????? do you know how much it cost to put it on the car?

Those 2 things is all you should need. As far as how much. It is not more then a few hours of labor. If you know how to splice and soilder 4 wires together then you can do it yourself. They will give you a instruction booklet telling you what wire goes to what pin on the computer.
I would like to do this to my 88 GT also, but don't you have to replace the computer as well? I know if you scroll down a little farther in the web page to the complete kit, it shows the computer.
To do the conversion isn't that bad of a job to do. And like Jay said, get a A9L computer and the harness pigtails is all the money you will really need to spend. There is also companies that make a harness to eliminate all the fabbing up a harness.
