***Help*** Steering wheel Still Shaking !

ok... for the last month or so, i've had a problem with my steering wheel / Front end and brake pedal shaking. at first it was really bad esp while braking, I figured it was an alignment issue, so I took it to the shop, and they said that the main problem was that the front rotors were warped, so I told them to just do the alignment and knowing what the problem was, i'd do the rotors myself.
I did the rotors and replaced the pads yesterday, and its a all better when braking no shaking , HOWEVER now between 40-70 mph the steering wheel still shakes (scary) left to right, can it be a tire balancing issue ? I also just rotated the tires before it got real bad, Please help

could be any number of things i would check tie rod ends and also a damaged belt in the tire would make it shake as well

what should I look For on the rod ends? the feeling is weird, I wish I could post a Video, the wheel goes back and forth and there is like some crazy bump steer feeling going on as well !

Unless the wheel is really out of balance it should not shake over such a wide range of MPH. It sounds like suspension/steering. Put the car on stands and grab each tire at 2 and 8 o'clock and give it a good shake and again at 4 and 10 o'clock. That should tell you which side it is on and you will likely see where the movement is. What ever part is bad, do both sides.

The shop should have checked out the suspension/steering before doing an alignment and diagnosing warped rotors as your problem. Sounds like the didn't because if it was rotors you would have felt it braking at all speeds and likely not felt it unless you were braking.

Do you mean you replaced or had the rotors turned?

I replaced the front rotors and pads myself, I also did the grab test, and both wheels are secure in all directions. under braking everything is ok (that was the warped rotors), the issue exsists under normal driving conditions between 40-70 mph, steering wheel shaking / pulling somtimes left, and sometimes right / bump steer !

Yep sounds like a ball joint to me too if you changed brakes n rotors n still shaking steering I would get that looked at don't wait to long.

you said you rotated the tires then it started to happen? if so why not rotate them back? if the problem goes away then have the tires balanced and call it a day. if your car is an auto make sure to shake the front end down in neutral, having it in park locks the steering so the inner and outer tie rod ends will be tight, if it were a ball joint the car would be making a squeeking noise not vibrations

Before jumping into the Ball joint pool. I would start easy and as others have said, check the wheel balancing. Out of balance wheels will cause a steering wheels shake in the MPH you are saying.

bent rims, tie rod ends, balancing, alignment, steering column, and driveshaft are all possible.

a bad drive shaft wont make the steering wheel shake. not really seeing how a bad steering collumn would make a shake either. its in the tires or possibly a bent wheel that you didnt feel when it was on the back. check the tread for any crazy bumps from broken or shifted belts. inspect the wheels and tires really good. if you cant see anything rotate them again. its a simple fix you can do yourself. even if it doesnt fix it all youll be out is a little time. but id put my money on tire or wheel.
