Hello everyone! We just became a member of your fine looking and very informative forum. (Better late then never! Right?). Actually I have to thank one of our good customers for mentioning this to us the other day.
Some of you might already know who we are and that we’re located on Long Island. But for those who don’t, let me just tell you a bit about us and our involvement in the Mustang Marketplace. We’re a family run business that’s been building high performance and racing transmissions since 1988. Although we were selling C-4’s and C-6’s for different Ford applications, it was back around 1997 that we developed what we feel is one of the strongest Overdrive transmissions to hit the streets (and strips). At the time we felt uncomfortable about trying to convince people that an AOD would handle 900hp. So we called our new transmission the 4STB (meaning 4-speed w/option trans-brake).
This unit proved to be so worthy of handling power that a few years later, we developed the same transmission into 3-speed called the AO3 (rated to 1200hp) for the Renegade Mustangs that Jimmy Larocca was building. At the same time, as the MOD motor began gaining popularity, we also developed the 4STB-E which is based on the AODE/4R70W (which came as standard equipment until 2004). This turned out to be a worthwhile endeavor because in 2005 when the new Mustangs were introduced many owners wanted to upgrade their motors with power adders such as superchargers or turbos. As it turned out the OEM transmissions (both Stick and Automatic) could not handle this power. So, for the past (5) years we’ve been providing the 4STB-E conversion for the newer cars used for Street and Strip applications.
We’re looking forward getting more involved on this forum, by helping out those who are trying to decide which way to go with the driveline in their car. Hopefully we can also be added to the Vendor listing where we can assist those who are interested upgrading their transmissions.
Happy Holidays to All!
