Gears??

I have a 00 mustang gt...I was trying to figure out what gears the car has in it stock??? What gears are mostly recommended and witch ones are for what exactly....Could really learn something about theme cause I know nothing about the setup now...Will they actually give me more power or will it just make it seem snappier???:confused::confused:

The stock gears are 3.27. You will likely get many different recommendations for what gears to chose but the two most common choices are 3.73 or 4.10. If you plan to add a supercharger or turbos, 3.73 gears are probably the best choice. If not, I'd say go with a set of 4.10s. I'd love to get a set of 4.10s in my car for next year. The gears will not increase horsepower but they will help you get off the line and improve quarter mile times. Happy modding!

If you're going to stay NA..go with the 4.10's..
Power adder..3.73's or even 3.90 is an option!! GL!! :)

I love my 4.10's too, but 3.73's would be a good choice for SC. and def for a 5-speed. 4.10's in a 5-speed means alot of shifting off the line. You'll get going, faster, but you'll burn through gears faster too at the cost of top end.

Ahh well I know that at times Iuse that top[ end speed so I dont want to give much up....But the car is a 5 speed and will be getting the s/c!!!So I guess the 3.73 are more what I will need!!
