The Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 is where Ford will be producing the new 305 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 that will be making it's way under the hood of the 2011 Ford Mustang V-6. To produce the new engine Ford is investing $155 Million in the plant for upgrades and revamping which will take place before production begins on the 2011 Mustang V-6. The new investment from Ford will create an additional 60 jobs at the plant where they also produce the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6.
“Ford is absolutely committed to delivering class-leading fuel efficiency with every new vehicle we introduce, and this investment in Cleveland provides further proof,” said Bill Russo, director of manufacturing for Ford’s powertrain operations.
The investment in the Cleveland engine plant along with other North American facility upgrades for 2011 model year vehicles puts Ford's total spending at $1.8 billion. All the upgrades and spending for Ford's facilities has created 1,260 new jobs for an industry that has seen better days.
