The first Ford Mustang off the assembly line, a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible (#100212) has been spotted for sale on Ebay with a price tag of $5.5 Million. You might remember this Mustang as I wrote a post about it back in February how it escaped a fire at the Classic Auto Museum in Wauconda, Illinois where it's housed. Mustang 212 as it's referred to has been recognized for years at the first official Mustang off the assembly line because all others before it were pre-production models hand built at the prototype warehouse in Allen Park, Michigan. All 211 pre-production Mustangs were built specifically for engineering tests, research and auto shows. Production of the first Mustang #100212 began on March 9, 1964. Over the years there have been numerous articles written about this Mustang verifying it as the first Mustang available to the public and now it's being offered to the public.
Along with the vehicle comes a treasure trove of documents including original bill of sale, window sticker, statement of origin, original warranty card, original owners manual, copy of original title, copies of complete title history, letter from William Clay Ford and restoration receipts. This is probably one of the most documented and written about Mustangs in history.
