The only new part in the engine is the internals. everything else has been polished or powder coated. But you are right that year's of nothing will make it hard to clean. the simple green diluted is perfect for the caked on crap. Do just your valve covers and intake. electronics are not made to be submerged but a spray isn't going to make them short out unless there is a break in the insulation.
Any way you do clean. there will be liquid getting on the components.

Yea mine just needs some simple cleaning. You can tell by looking at it its just lots of dust. So a simple spray down should clean it up pretty good. I'm not looking to have it show ready lol. That'll happen when she's finished and all parts will mostly be new at that point lol.
