I love coming across these finds and it doesn’t happen too often given these cars are well over 40 years old. But here’s one to admire. It’s a 1969 Boss 429 in original condition. Only 858 were made in the two year production run and Ford handed these off to Kar Kraft to modify stock Mach 1 Mustangs.
As wikipedia puts it “Ford was seeking to develop a Hemi engine that could compete with the famed 426 Hemi from Chrysler in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series (then known as “Grand National Division”). NASCAR’s homologation rules required that at least 500 cars be fitted with this motor and sold to the general public. After much consideration, it was decided by Ford that the Mustang would be the car that would house this new engine.”
This example is finished in Wimbledon White and was purchased new in New York. It was sent to Tasca Ford in Providence, Rhode Island (a famous racing preparation shop) and made into a 1/4 mile drag car. She has only 2219 original miles (albeit 1/2 mile at a time) and is all original. The car ran races along the eastern seaboard and apparently had moderate success. The motor has been rebuilt and has all numbers are matching.
At the time of writing the car has not gained any bids. So if you have a cool $185,000 head over to eBay now and buy it.
