catch can

Is anyone running a catch can on their 03-04 Cobra? I was just doing some research and it looks like a good idea.

Any info / pics would be appreciated..

I bought a Steeda catch can for my 3V but it was designed for Termi's, it was a bitch finding the right fitting to get it to work, so its just been sitting around the house.

I don't have a catch can, but I did put on a small water separator. There is some debate as to whether it actually helps, I figured it couldn't hurt and it does collect oil...I bought all the parts for about $25 from home depot and autozone....

The advantage of a catch can is that you will keep oil (which has an octane rating of like 60) and residual combustion gases from entering into the combustion chamber therefore reducing detonation.
The down side is you will not have vacuum in your crankcase which supposedly helps piston rings seal better, also your oil will break down a little faster.

Now, personally I run breathers on my valve covers and have never had a problem with rings not sealing (I run gapless rings, though) and I change my oil very often anyways so it is not an issue for me. Personally, keeping all those gases and oil from entering the motor is most important.
You can go half way like Rusty did and get a separator to keep some of the oil from entering back

They make one same set up but a mini mee version lol. It is a nice piece and you can mount it on the strut tower.

I was going to mount it next to my JLT intake in that hole.. I figured I only had around 9" to play with (when the hoods closed) and they are 11.5" tall so I wanted to get something shorter.

Are you talking about the driver side?

The smaller one gives you lots more room, it is on jegs not summit I will get ya link if you cannot find it and some pictures of the installs we have done.

That would be awesome! Thank you, I really appreciate it. Also, what type of fittings do you use off the valve cover? Do the lines run off the valve covers straight to the can or is there a valve in the back like on the pushrod engines?

I really want to do a steel braided line setup like in the link I posted. I like the look of it a lot.

Depends how crazy you want to get. We have pulled the valve covers and welded AN fittings right into the valve covers for people that did not care about time/material or cost. You can run plastic 90deg angle fittings into fuel line, I say fuel line as heat does not effect it. The lines run straight into can, AN fittings on can. When done right it is nice clean and works well.
