Backup lights

Alright sn95 gurus!!! The backup lights don't work. I narrowed it down to a bad switch.

I located the switch, but the problem I have is wear the hell does it go!!

It just hangs there like an old mans wang!! I couldn't get my fat ass far enough under the car to see if it would fit into the connector on the drivers side of the tranny.

Any idea (waldo). I also have to change the speedo gear, that's gonna be fun.

there are two sensors on the driver's side of the transmission. The one closest to the bellhousing is your backup switch.

The one closer to the shifter area is the vehicle speed sensor.

Thanks. I saw a harness on the drivers side with a spot for 2 connections. One was being used and the other looked to need a spline connector. What about the switch on the drivers side top, right below the shifter?? Does that just hang. The car has a Cobra tranny. I gotta get it up higher and look.

any other connector/plug near the shifter transmission (assuming that it is a factory harness) is for oxygen sensors. One on the left side of the shifter and one on the right.

I found it!! It wasn't the first one I thought it was, that just hangs there. I pulled out the switch, jumped the leads and presto, we have lights. Checked the switch, no good, so I gotta get one of them.

Also, I have to have the speedo calibrated, it isn't a driven gear, it is electric. I pulled it out and it has a yellow 18 tooth gear. Who has a calibrator, don't feel like spending $100 on one.

the speedo signal is actually mechanical on the transmission side but then gets converted to electrical by the sensor.
What problem are you having with the speedo? Not accurate?
If that's the case, it is that yellow gear you have to change. To get the right one you need to know what gears are in the back (rear end)

Yeah, it is a pulse that reads the speed. But if I go with a larger or smaller gear, there isn't any adjustment for it to mesh.

If I go larger it will bind, smaller it wont mesh, I remember the older ones had a concentric mount so that you could adjust the mesh, know what I mean.

I think it has 3.73 rears. I will have to do the Mark and Roll test to be sure.
