I received my Mach 1 Gauge cluster today. I'd like to put this in my 03 GT. Here are a few pics:
Well packed!
OK guys, I need a little help....From what I've been told, on cars after 99, the mileage is stored in the car's computer, not in the cluster. AWESOME!
Now....I have also heard that I might have some problems with the PATS system, but I am not 100% sure.
Also, a friend of mine on another forum stated this:
"yes the mileage data is stored in the cluster, however the cluster is coded to the PCM and keys,
and to reprogram the PCM, keys and cluster you need a OEM Ford dealer re-programmer ..
the only way around this .. is to remove the PAT from the PCM and drop in the new cluster ..
whatever mileage is stored on the new cluster is what will show up..
FYI: if you remove PATS from the PCM anyone can start the car even with a none coded key.. (e.g. hot wire ..)"
Anyways, is there any truth to what my friend mentioned? I thought that this would have been a simple swap....but perhaps, I should have done more research!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.
