New to NY Mustang. Recently i acquired a 69 Mustang coupe. Decent condition in driving conditioin, body is straight, no rust, no rot. i traded it for my 95 sportster that i purchase for 500 bucks 5 years ago...... this is what i know about her so far.. Originally, it was a inline 6 , 3 speed manual, built in sept of 69. color was gulfstream aqua. built in MI. When i did the trade, it had a 302 V8 with a 5 speed manual trans. all of the interior was in the trunk, Molding, trims, ect. My goal is to get her safely on the road and as the years go buy i want to make her look like new.
So i started doing few things to the engine. Minor stuff, change oil, sparks, wires filters ect. I am putting a rack and piñon , power steering , power brakes Mustang 2 suspension as well as disc locks all around ..... it has the original leaf and original 7.5" rear...... also advice on exhaust would be great. currently just have headers, i want to get the deep sound of the muscle car. so whats better str8 pipes, X Pipe,H pipe or going with a completed Megnaflow kit . Ill post a few pics of what it looks like as well as progress. I am a long way from interior and paint but started to put the car together to see what i have and need.
Advice, recommendations, criticism is VERY welcome. What is my goal? I would like to get it on the road safely. I want the stang to be a weekend cruiser in the summer. and hold on to her until my son is old enough to take her over.... he is 2 now (so i have a long way to go). I would like to take her on the track once to feel what she can do... it won't be soon but one day.......
What should i focus on, I'm 29 with a growing family so i do not want to break the bank. I am handy so interior , engine work i will tackle myself..... Suspension i don't mind paying labor. rather be safe then sorry........
