You could also do a bounce test by pushing down on your front and rear of your car and see how much it bounces up and down. Then you can also get an idea of whether or not it's hitting the bump stops.
I feel like there's something else going on here though. He shouldn't be going through cables this quickly and having this many problems even if they aren't as good quality.
