working on C4 tranny, have a couple questions
The front pump has a 70's part number, and it does have an o-ring around it. That outer most diameter is the same. It is the inter-most diameter (where the input shaft goes) that changed; mainly because the input shaft is a larger diameter than the 64-66. I too found almost nothing about the #3...- mabcim

Debating this...
As others said, it's your car do what you want. I think it is a fine upgrade. I would make sure you can do this to a car that does not already have fog lights.
