This is not true. An alternator will never produce its full capable output at idle RPM. It will usually produce about 50% of it's max at idle, so a stock 130 amp unit will produce ~65 amps at idle, where say a beefed up 200 amp will produce 100 or more at idle. The idle amperage goes down...

Long tubes and an off road X will get you a good amount of power since you already have the blower. I would be careful with adding more boost, the 2v's run a big risk of puking the rods once you beyond 11 PSI or so.

Yeah, it's not cheap, but it's cheaper than getting the equipment and doing all the necessary stuff to disable the PATS system.

Yes, the other cluster can be calibrated by the dealer.

Since your car is a 2000 you have to worry about the PATS system (Passive Anti-Theft System). If you replace the cluster the car will NOT start without the new cluster being re-calibrated to the car. The only way around it is to disable the PATS but by the time you do that you may as well get...
