    Had the same problem on my 05 v6 before I got my 08 sounds like the stepper motor for the gauge...

    Had the same problem on my 05 v6 before I got my 08 sounds like the stepper motor for the gauge went bad (known problem) I sent mine in to get repaired for 130 bucks. Not sure on the wiring but I'm thinking it won't cause an engine light if anything it may pop a fuse if hooked up wrong.

    I plasti dipped my neighbors rims and a hood stripe on his fusion 2 months and still holding up used black plasti dip 5 coats on the rims 4 on the hood and still holding up!! Try it worse case you just peel it off!!
