Back in the day? I believe this still happens now, lol. I didn't think that they would be that far off, goes to show how much I know about those matching maf and injectors.

alot affects a x-fer funtion for a maf...the only thing that they used to do in regards to "scaling" was that the maf would sustain the same power as the injectors. Load will never be correctly calculated in any tune be it 87 eec 4 to 2011 copperhead processors unless injector low and high slopes as well as a few other parameters are changed in the binary. In eec4's it only affected idle and part throttle (WOT spark was primative RPM vs Spark) in anything 94 on up it affects everything.
actually ran a 93 Cobra MAF on my 93 GT years ago, it had a slightly difference transfer function than the stock 55mm but helped me get in the 13's, then 12's with a SC later on. No wonder it was so rich!!
I don't think most people realize that the calibration from Ford is done in the ECU, NOT the maf. Kinda like the Lightning 90mm and people thinking they could toss it on with 42lbers and be ok. High/Low injector slope, breakpoint, etc is set for the injector size and the actual flow of the meter in the ECU. Then when you toss in a "calibrated maf" it fools the ECU into thinking it is getting LESS air to trim the fuel for the larger injectors. But since it is telling it less air is going in, it doesn't report the correct load the engine is seeing so the timing is off.

The gears made a big difference and the tune by far was so damn needed, it's crazy how the guy before me drove it like that... Once again thank you for getting her up to par... now I am much more confident in driving to further events... Thanks guys..
