Adjusting Timing

Is there something I need to un hook to adjust the timing on my 91 5.0? Usualy there is one wire that needs to be unhooked but I havn't found one. The book talks about a vacuum line for some, that's not me. It talks about a single wire that hooks up right above the rest of the wires on the distributor, I don't have that either. Is there something I need to unhook? Car still doesn't feal right and the way it sits with out unhooking anything it has about 14 degrees of timing. Seeing another post on the forum has me thinking.

there should be a wire with a plastic plug in it that pulls out, normally tucked to the right side of the dizzy.

Found it, thanks. I had 2 degrees of timing, fixed now. I have video and pictures to prove it. Can you say "Smoke Show"?

that plug is called the spout connector

wow....and I thought the 5* in a friends was bad:smash:

how much timing did you put in it? i was running 16 degree's in mine and it ran great

I put it at 12*.

keep bumping it up until it pings then back it off 2 degree's

I have a Vortech with 5 lb boost and i run 11 deg. All set ups are different. I heard that anything over 110 or 12 deg and the motor will let loose.... Im not 100% about that but it is just what i heard. Don't forget to plug the spout connector back in when yer dunn! L8R!
