WTB Digital SLR

My daughter is taking a class in digital photography and seems to be into it. I would like to get her a SLR but do not want to drop $500+ on what might be a passing interest.

Any one have an older one they want to sell cheap?

Looks like I can hold off for a while.

As of the new semester she has moved up to Advanced Digital Photography which means she gets a D40 to keep for the rest of the year.
