Tire / Rim question

I'm trying to get rims for my car. The rims I want are 17 x 7, apparently. I have the stock 245/45R17's on my car now. Obviously they're 17", but 17 x what? The guy who has my rims said that my tires are too big for the 17 x 7. If that's so, what tire size would I have to have for them to fit? Wouldn't I just go one size smaller? Someone help me, please, this is so aggravating.

Most likely your stock wheels are 17x8.Those tires should fit on a 17x7 wheel

Your stock wheels are 17x8. The tires would most likely fit but may bulge on the sides a little. If you are going with a different sized tire make sure it is almost if not exactly the same size at what you are using now unless you want your speedometer off.

Try going with a 225/50/17 It would be very close and small enough that it would fit on a 7 inch wide wheel.

Why do you want to buy a 7 inch wide wheel though?

17x8 is the correct size. i have the same tires on 17x9 rims on my car with intentions of going to a larger size in the rear

245/45/17 are perfect for your wheels, considering that is the stock size for the 17x8 bullitt's, and my deluxe wheels.

if your saying you want a new wheel, and they are 17x7's and want to use your old tire...

please, find a different wheel. those are for imports that cant use wider tires

you should be going wider not skinnier =) don't know u'r budget but here's my ex's white 02 GT with 17X9 in front and 17X10.5 in the rear wrapped with 255/40 in the front and 315/35....oh and its the same exact car as yours...

yep..I agree....I ve got 17x9's in front.245/45...and 17x10.5 in the rear 285/40-Nitto 555's

yeah same as these guys said, you don't put narrower rims on Mustangs, just wider. Only exception would be a fat n little combo of drag rims. Most Mustang 9'' wide rims fit nice on those, you can also run 10's and 10.5's out back.

she changed to 18" rims and i think they are 18 x 8.5
