Tire aspect ratio's

Why do some owners run a different aspect ratio tires front and rear ?

I understand different size for width but why 45 in front and 35 in rear ?

I think it makes more of an agressive look. Skinny in the front, wide in the back.

The middle number is the aspect ratio like you said, the hight of the tire is 40% of the width.

If you run 40 series tires all around but get wider tires for the back they will appear just a little bit taller.

If you run a 35 up front and a 45 our rear, the rear will look HUGE and give you more sidewall. Some guys run a 40 front and 35 rear to make the tires appear even in sidewall height even though the rear tire is wider.

yup.

a 275/40 fron is roughly the same as a 315/35 rear. or a 245/45 is about the same as a 275/40.

its all to even out the sidewall. if you had a 245/45 up fornt and a 315/45 out back...well, back would be a 4x4 tire

Yeah, I was running 285/35 rear and 245/40 rear. 35% of 285mm and 40% of 245mm is VERY close. If I used the same aspect ratio between both, you would visually notice the difference. It would look like dookie.
