My first post of the month started on a high after seeing a few spy shots of the all-new 5.0-liter V-8 and then as they always do at the beginning of the month, Ford released September Mustang sales figures. My high quickly turned to a low as September Mustang sales dropped a whopping 22% from the previous month. I would have say the month-to-month drop has to be a little alarming to the blue oval. So what is Ford doing to get 2010 Mustang sales back on track, for starters they have kicked in a few incentives. The first being $2K cash back and the second being 0% financing plus a $1K cash back. Will these offers kick start Mustang sales for October, only time will tell.
Sales of Ford Mustangs for September of 2009 were 4,917 compared to 4,910 from September of 2008 showing a 0.1% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 51,680 compared to 78,871 for 2008, which is a 34.5% drop.
Month to Month sales were disappointing like I said above with August 2009 sales being 6,289 compared to September 2009 sales of 4,917 which is a 22% decrease.
