Overdrive light blinking

I have an automatic transmission and the other night the Overdrive light started to blink. Anyone know what the problem might be? I have 45,000 miles on it.

Possible speed sensor...! Not expensive at all or it's possible that the O/D Button is just going bad... Does not necessarily mean the transmission is shot...

Def. get it checked out soon though- That's like a flashing engine light, NOT good!

I would be willing to bet it's just something small... but unfortunately a blinking light makes it look worse then what it is... needless to say still make it a priority.

I would take it to a private owned transmission shop...

To give you a example - one of my friends took their car to a general repair shop and they said it could only be fixed by Ford and needed to be brought to a Ford Dealership, it was going to cost 4,000 dollars to fix...

NEEDLESS to say I referred them to Opitz Transmissions in Schenectady and it was a 100 bucks to fix it... (Speed sensor)..!

another thing about general shops is...they gonna find 1000 other things that you apparently MUST fix

Like others have said, most likey something small. I would guess a bad connection/loose or bad ground or even the button going bad. If it hasn't been grinding or missing/waiting too long to shift then you should be fine but do have it check out!!

actually its been running awesome...throttle response is amazing. lol...i downloaded a free coupon from aamco for a transmission scan

+1 flashing lights arent good. you could have a serious problem so you may want to brace yourself. mileage doesnt always mean much if its not maintained properly. also depends on how its driven and some just have bad luck no matter what make the vehicle. good luck

It came up to be the transmission temperature sensor and I need to get the oil change for it since they are dropping the pan and replacing the gasket also. Anyone know how much those sensors usually cost?

Well i got my plow truck done and it cost like 350.00 if that helps.
