Opinion on Nitto 555R drag radial

Getting my 3.73's installed as soon as the car comes out after the snow melts....have BFG G-force sports 275-40-17's on new lastseason but after the gear install i have a feeling im just going 2 blow those tires off in 1st...whats peoples opinions on the Nitto 555R drag radial? Going to want something thats gonna hook decent on the street and get atleast 1 summer out of the tire..car will maybe see the track once a summer to see improvements from mods....let me know what u think of them and if another tire could be used let me kno...discount tire has 275-40-17 555r's for $159 a tire...pretty cheap in my eyes.

I have that tire and I hook pretty good But I wish I went for the 315s instead.
they would fit even if the car is lowered. I even saw some guys running 355 on a lowered stang..Good tire if you want my opinion.

I had the nittos last 2 years i just put on another set i love them. I have an extra set of rims so i always have another set waiting so i will be buying a set from DT as well because i am getting my gears Friday.

I have them and they are pretty good. I still blow the tires off through first though, well if i don't get them sticky first. When you warm them up they are great.

I was personally going to test out a set of MT's once these wear out. But they are a good tire, very good for the street. I got caught in the rain a couple times and i had no problem with them with traction issues.

I all so have the 555 up front and the 555drs on back. But i do like the way the g-force look or kdws

If you want traction with drag radials

1-Mickey Thompson
2-BFG
3-Nittos

For good wear, flip the list around.

Nittos are pretty good, they just take a little heat to work good, but if you really want to hook and don't drive in the rain, Mickey Thompsons are the tires for you (they do wear a lot quicker though) or you can get something in between with the BFG's.

Yeah that's what i heard about the 3 of them thats why i went nittos.

Nitto is a great DR but yo have to heat the crap out of them at the track to hook. I have ran them for years, I now run bald BFG's, and man do they stick. The only problem is after warm EVERYTING sticks to the tread.

The 555R's stay stuck to the road when I corner but to much of the loud pedal, They just don't seem to want to hook. I only have 285's so I would suggest wider. The tires do last a longtime in my opinion.

yeah as mentioned above, the tires do last a while. It all comes down to the $$ and what exactly your looking for.

Nitto's are probably going to be your best bet if its your DD.

Thanks...yah i was trying 2 decide between the nitto's or the BFG's..I bought my mustang last summer so i drove the shit out of it and put like 13k on it :nono:but highway alot of trips 2 buffalo and a trip to the islands...i doubt i will put that many on this summer but afraid if i buy the BFG's that i'll need another set be-4 the summers over..and being still in college $10 an hr job with a car payment doesnt get you very far...are the BFG's really gonna b worth the extra $25 a tire and about how many miles(ik depending on how u drive them) will i see out of a BFG set?(BFG DR 275-40-17 $184)(NittoDR 275-40-17 $159)

I currently have the BFG's on my mustang. I got about 3,000 miles or so out of them including 3-4 passes at the track. I love them but with the amount of driving you do, I would no doubt get the Nittos.
