HELPPP 4.2 -4.6 swap

i crashed my 2000 mustang gt with a 4.6 and bent the front end part of the frame. i have a 1998 4.2 v6 f150 there both automatic and both rear wheel drive i was trying to figure out if i could swap engines and if the tranny would line up right or if id have to swap that aswell
any suggestions would help

Thats a good question. I would Imagine the ECU would have to be swapped out as well and the brings the question of, would all the wiring match up? There are 4.6 motors and or parts for sale everywhere you look. I would just do a rebuild.

that was an idea but it needs so much bodywork and not to mention frame work i also have a v6 so i wont be mustang-less my work truck has 210k and the gt engine just hit 100k so i figured itd be a decent investment. i was thinking of taking off the majority of the parts and putting them on the 98 f150. i was told i can take the dual exhaust off the gt and swap it to the truck without too much extra work. id like to salvage the engine and put it in preferably the truck but might end up just turning the v6 into a v8

yeah I think your going to give yourself a headache with all that but I have never done it so don't really know. goodluck if you start tearing into it. also if you start it then hit me up. i will turn a wrench or two with ya when I'm not at work. be nice to see how it all goes.

It's going to be a lot of work to remian emiooion compliant in NYS. You would need a 4.6 wiring harness and ecu for the F150. The vin numbers in the computer wont match the truck's vin so it would'nt pass state inspection with out going through the State refree station. Lots of luck with that. They go over everything with a fine tooth comb and take anything that can't be proven where it came from. If it passes they may or may not issue a new vin. Nothing says they will approve the swap.
