When it comes to race car drivers Stirling Moss is among the best in history, winning over forty percent of the 500+ events he entered into in his decade and a half career. The legendary Brit won sixteen Formula 1 Grand Prix, finishing second in the drivers’ championship four straight years, but perhaps was most famous for his dominating win at the 1955 Mille Miglia.
So what does Sir Stirling Moss have to do with Mustangs? Well, he once owned and competed with this 1965 Shelby GT350 in various European vintage racing events from 1993 to 1999, and it will be up for grabs at Mecum’s auction in Monterey next month. Although not one of the original R models, the genuine GT350 has been upgraded to full R spec and comes with plenty of documentation chronicling its history. The car is currently in race-ready condition, so whoever is lucky enough to be the new owner after the auction will be able to race it right away.
