Evap & Catalyst not ready, NYS Insp.

Sorry I posted this problem in the Tech/Write Ups. Ineed to use this forum more. The problem I'm having is I get evap and catalyst not ready codes on obdII scanner. 02 sensors show ready. Last year inspection worked fine after a couple of miles, 02s, catalyst and evap. Since then I have installed cmcv delete plates, I had that system turned off in tune, along with that it shows secondary air pump off. I think these two are connected(cmcv and air pump), I'm not certain haven't had a chance to talk to tuner. Secondary air pump may have something to do with evap not ready?

Catalyst not ready: delete plates and Mafia installed, is too much air being moved through high flow cats that prevent 02s from doing a complete job:confused: I have Kook lth and high flow cats.

For catalyst not ready, I'm thinking of having mid pipes made to include my oem cats and remove the high flow and install oem catted mid pipe. Even though it passed last years insp with high flow cats cmcv delete plates where not installed. I'm just about out of options.

The risk of running into a vehicle check point is getting closer each time I'm on the street. Option of taking my car off the street:thumbsdown:

I'm hoping someone out there has experienced if not he same but similar problem.

You need to drive a total of 100 - 150 miles in all speed ranges, there are 3. 0-20mph, 21-40mph,41-55mph to set the sensors for inspection. You also may want to check with your tuner, I have CMCV plates and never had any MIL's or inspection problems.

been there done that plus a couple hundred more. I think I'm flowing too much air pass the 02s to function completely. cmcv delete plate coming out going bac to configuration that worked last year.

when mine was not passing my tune was off... Set to a small intake then what I had... my tuner fixed it and I was fine... double check..

Emission tune never heard of it. Some of the problem i'm having is that tuner in VT doesn't know what NYS inspection requirements are they're prettuy lax in their reguirements. I've been told my car would have no problem ppassing in vT. I'll call my tuner Monday and ask the question

Chances are that your "tune" has everything to do with the CAT not setting to ready. Alot of tunes turn off the rear O2 sensor. Without that rear O2 reading, the CAT monitor will not set to "ready". Talk to you're tuner and ask him if he can send you an emissions tune. EVAP may not run on this vehicle unless the CAT monitor runs first. Also, the EVAP needs about a 1/2 tank of fuel and a overnight cold soak to run. There are specific drive cycles for each vehicle. If you need more info, I could email you the drive cycle on Monday. Just need an email address. But chances are a call to your tuner needs to made. Your high flow cats should be fine. Do they have a pre and post O2 sensor? What ever you do, get a proper emissions inspection on the vehicle. Don't buy into someone telling you that they can get around it. Believe me, DMV knows when the vehicle has not been inspected properly and sooner or later, they will catch up to the shop and the owner of the vehicle.

Well he can trust me because for the last 6 years all my car have never passed an inspection, My 2002 is300 had the check engine light for o2 sensor problems and plus i didnt have any cats just straight pipes.

The location i am near registers the car inspection with the DMV so when your registration is up the renewal it comes through in the mail without a problem.


There are places that just give you a sticker and thats just stupid, here as blackstang said the hood its done right :awesomework:

Thanks this site helped. I had my tuner turn off cmcv system since I have delete plates installed. I did not realize that the secondary air pump was turned off. I didn't know to know about air pump this is part of evap sys.

Your vehicle has NO seconadary air pump system, that is if it is a 05 and up GT. Even if it had a secondary air system, EVAP and 2nd air are not related. Your tuner could not have turned off a cmcv system as there is no such system. He may have tuned the fuel and timing though to adjust for the missing cmcv plates. Do you have a scan tool? If so, watch the front and rear O2 readings.

See you learn some thing everyday, this has been a hugh learning:smash::smash:process. I do have a scan tool. I know there is a reading between the two that would give you a check engine light if they're aren't right. I'll check my shop guide. Thanks
