downshifting

Just wondering if anyone else with a 5 speed noticed this.

When you downshift, the RPM's stay the same and the car does not slow down.

To make it easier to understand.

The older cars, I was able to come to almost a complete stop without touching the brakes.
This car I can go from 3rd to 2nd and still cruise at the same speed with no slowing down.

What gives???

Yes I have a tune, just not a real good one. I am using a supertuners flashpaq, I cannot adjust anything except speed limiter, axle size, and what temp the fans come on. I have there "custom" jlt CAI tune, but the car feels the same as it did stock.

Im not sure if this is even on topic but....why not dump that tune and get a xcal2 or xcal3 and go through bamachips or breenspeed...or even Mustang Magic

Ok, give me 400$ and I will be more than happy to. I want to, but the edelbrock S/C comes with a diablo, so I am just gonna wait until then.

Gonna sell my JLT and my K&N CAI with the tuner soon, and go back to stock airbox.

Your not in an s197. I guess they did some computer crap that screwed it up. It is strange.

Well hopefully someone chimes in on this topic....It would be interesting to see if there are any other S197 drivers that have the same issue.

the only rpm hang ive noticed is between upshifts. you should get an xcal3. HUGE difference. $379 custom tuned from brenspeed

i have 4.10s in the rear, so downshifting is def slowing you down

if I down shift the RPM will generally go up on clutch engagement and then if I dont keep any throttle the car will slow dramatically....

I come to a complete stop.... But I am heavily modded... Maybe you are rev matching instead of truly downshifting...

i know what hes talkin about. s197s have the RPM hang problem. if im doing 55 and hit the clutch the rpms stay up for secs. it used to seem like downshifting didnt slow me down, but 4.10's fixed that

im really not sure if there is a fix for it since they are throttle by wire :idk: ive heard some people say its in the tuning, but i had a diablo and an xcal w/custom tunes and it doesnt really seem to change.
