My original review:
I think these tires are great. I put these on my 2000 Mustang GT soon after I bought it, replacing the General summer tires that were already on it. I think these tires are great. I live in NYC and goto college up in Western NY near Buffalo and so these tires see plenty of different road conditions. They're quiet and unobtrusive while driving and take pot holes real well. Turn in response in the dry seems a little slow at first but its not so bad that you can't feel where the car is headed. While these tires are excellent in dry weather, they're even better wet. It almost seems as if these tires are stickier when its raining out. The car feels more planted and glued to the road and it gives you excellent feel. I just had a chance to try them out in the snow and ice this week and they still feel great. The only time they lose grip in the snow is when I gas it hard on purpose. It's honestly pretty hard to get these tires to break loose in the snow. These tires, with the rudimentary traction control thats on my Mustang feel great. The only time I've actually lost traction is when I (stupidly) took a turn in a parking lot too fast, causing the front tires to slide. I turned the tires forwards real quick and tapped on the brakes though and I recovered with plenty of space in front of me. These tires are excellent, in all seasons and I think they're an excellent compromise between Performance Summer Tires and Snow Tires.
My followup review:
Now having driven close to 10,000 miles on these tires in all types of conditions, I really do love them. They're just great all-weather tires. They have close to the expected performance of summer tires, while retaining superior all weather stability. These tires still do great in puddles and in the rain. I still feel like they're grippier in the rain than when its dry out. You definitely notice some sort of "suction" of the tire to the road in the rain which gives you more confidence.
These tires do great in cold weather too. I've had plenty of chances to take them out in my Mustang GT in the Ice, Light Snow and in Heavy Snow. In ice and in light snow, these tires don't even seem to realize anythings changed. I still have plenty of grip and traction and the car will go where you point it. As long as you drive safely on the snow, these tires will absolutely get you through it. I think a great testament to how great these tires are in the snow is the fact that whenever I looked out my review mirror, I could see the tires tossing up light chunks of snow as they dug their way around the roads.
These tires work great in deep snow too. I only had one instance where I couldn't get started normally and thats because I was stopped on a hill. I had to shift into first and spin the tires a bit to make traction but the tires definitely got me through it.
All in all, these are great tires and I would absolutely recommend them to anybody needing performance all season tires. As a testament to how much I like them, I plan on buying a new set when I upgrade from 17" to 18" wheels.
