clicking noise from rear?

hey guys i discovered today that theres a click noise coming from the rear end of my car. i only happens when i let off the clutch taking off or tap the gas quickly in 1st or 2nd. the car now also shakes when doing 40+mph. what are some possibilitie it can be? please help, the car just started doing this and i dont want anything to get worse! thanks in advance

are the bolts tight that hold the drive shaft in? mine made a funky ticking sound when they because loose

Sounds like a "u-Joint". specially with the vibration.

Like Gregg said, one of the U joints probably has play in it and when you hit the gas quick you hear it turn as far as it can until that "slack" is taken up.

how hard is it to replace? and what could of caused this? because ive been beating on my car a bit lately can that be why? srry if i have newb questions im only 18

They just wear out. Not hard to replace.

$15 for a HD u joint and about 45 minutes to do the job. All you will need is a punch, hammer, and a c clip remover. Its looks like a pair of pliers that work backwards. If you can find one a small tipped punch or screw driver will be sufficient! If you have an Auto tranny leave the driveshaft in place so you dont waste your fluid and contaminate the earth! LOL Forgot the 10 or 12mm socket!
