very smart hunter/outdoorsman....bears have been proven to feed off of emotion.

if you attack they usually fight
if you run they see you as prey
if you let them know you are there in a non threatening manner they usually asses the situation and leave

ive had many interactions with bear here in NY and colorado/new mexico
