Back on July 30th at the Experimental Aircraft Association's 'Gathering of Eagles' fundraiser the one-of-a-kind 2010 based AV-X10 'Dearborn Doll' Mustang sold for $250,000. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Young Eagles organization which provides free introductory flights for young people while teaching the value of hard work, personal responsibility and math and science skills. Automotive legends Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby were on hand along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. who raced an airplane in a 2010 Shelby GT500 with the plane just 5 feet above him at 160 mph.
The price is a little low compared to the $500,000 brought by last year's AV8R Mustang but given the state of the economy it's still a tidy sum.
Ford donated the 2010 based AV-X10 Mustang which carries the 10-millionth engine from the Romeo Engine Plant, a custom paint job matching WWII era fighter planes, Ford Racing Performance modifications and unique interior trim.
